Supporting Woodlands Primary School is about more than just keeping things tidy, it’s about creating the right conditions for children to learn, grow, and feel safe. Working as their cleaning partner, the goal has always been to deliver high standards of hygiene that reflect the school’s warm and welcoming ethos.

Every detail matters, from the first bell to the final clean of the day, because the cleanliness of a school has a direct impact on the wellbeing of its pupils and staff. That’s why the team takes real pride in being part of a school environment where children feel valued, supported, and ready to take on the day.

The cleaning plan in place has been built specifically around the daily flow of the school. No two primary schools are the same, and Woodlands has its own rhythms, priorities, and pressures. The team works in sync with the school day, focusing on essential spaces like classrooms, corridors, and shared learning zones

Toilets and staff areas are cleaned with equal care to maintain a high standard across the board. Special attention is paid to high-touch points like desks, door handles, taps, and handrails, areas that can quickly become a hotspot for germs if not addressed properly. By focusing on these details, the cleaning effort directly supports the health and attendance of both pupils and staff.

The Schools are looking amazing following summer deep cleans. The management of cleaning staff and cover for absence were a major issue for the trust beforehand, this is now no longer something we need to consider. All staff have enhanced DBS checks in line with the trust policies and procedures. Mercia Learning Trust have developed an excellent working relationship with Heb Cleaning & Hygiene that we will look to build on.

John Gregory - Facilities and Estates Manager, Mercia Learning Trust

Cleaning a busy primary school means thinking ahead, not just about today’s lessons but the long-term upkeep of the space. That’s why the schedule includes deep cleans during school holidays, allowing for more intensive work without causing disruption. These sessions include services like carpet shampooing, internal and external window cleaning, and high-level dusting in hard-to-reach areas.

It’s a chance to reset the entire school before a new term begins. The difference is visible and often commented on by both staff and parents when children return to a spotless and refreshed environment.

Restroom hygiene is treated as a top priority, and it’s about more than just cleaning. Each facility is checked and restocked daily to make sure pupils have access to everything they need; soap, hand towels, toilet roll, so there’s never a disruption to their day. Specialist floor care is also part of the service, ensuring surfaces are clean, safe, and visually appealing. The safety of pupils is always top of mind, and that includes preventing slips and maintaining floor surfaces across all types of spaces, from wet areas to hallways.

Behind the scenes, contract management plays a key role in making sure everything runs smoothly. Staffing in schools can be challenging, especially during periods of illness or unexpected absence, but the contract has been built to remain flexible and responsive.

A consistent and well-trained team is in place, with additional support ready to step in if needed. This reliability is crucial in a school setting where routines are everything, and any disruption can quickly be felt across the day.

Safeguarding is at the heart of how the contract operates. All cleaning staff assigned to the school hold enhanced DBS checks and are familiar with the policies of Mercia Learning Trust. It’s not just about having the paperwork, it’s about understanding the environment and the responsibility that comes with working around children. Regular quality control audits ensure standards are being upheld, and any issues are addressed quickly and professionally. Open communication with the school has been key to building trust and improving the service year on year.

Woodlands Primary is a brilliant school with a positive atmosphere, and we’re proud to be part of that. Our focus is always on delivering a reliable, high-standard service that supports both the pupils and the staff. It’s a great partnership built on trust and flexibility, and we’re always looking at ways we can adapt and improve to meet the school’s needs.

Katarzyna Owczarza - Contract Manager, Heb Cleaning & Hygiene

The relationship with Woodlands Primary has grown into a true partnership. It’s more than a service agreement; it’s a shared commitment to making sure the school is always ready for whatever the day brings.

Whether it’s adapting to building changes, supporting special events, or simply maintaining consistency during challenging times, the team is proud to be part of the school’s journey. Being adaptable and dependable has allowed the contract to evolve in step with the school’s needs.

By providing a high-quality cleaning service that integrates seamlessly with day-to-day school life, the team plays a quiet but important role in creating a positive educational environment.

A clean school doesn’t just look good, it supports attendance, reduces illness, and contributes to better learning outcomes. And for a school like Woodlands Primary, which puts its pupils first in everything it does, that’s exactly the kind of support that matters.
